Credits and open data

Where our open data comes from, and the licence that lets us use it.

Yaybe uses some open data published by governments. This page names each source, who published it and the licence it comes with, so you can see where it came from.

Niagara Falls addresses

When you add a place in Niagara Falls, Ontario, Yaybe can suggest street addresses and place them on the map without asking an outside service. Those suggestions come from the City of Niagara Falls “Address Points” dataset.

Contains information licensed under the Open Government Licence – Niagara Falls.

The City has not endorsed Yaybe, and its data is provided as is: a suggested address is not verified, so check it before you rely on it.

Which Niagara Falls addresses are businesses

Yaybe can tell which Niagara Falls addresses probably host a business, using two open lists. We keep the kind of business at an address, such as “restaurant” or “retail trade”, and for most businesses its name and website, which only Yaybe’s staff can see. We do not keep people’s names, phone numbers or e-mail addresses from these lists, and an address that may be a home, such as a vacation rental or a hairdresser, is never presented as a business address.

City business licences. Contains information licensed under the Open Government Licence – Niagara Falls.

Regional employment inventory. Contains information licensed under the Open Government Licence - Niagara Region.

The inventory is from 2022 and the licence list is not exhaustive, so a missing business does not mean there isn’t one. Neither the City nor the Region has endorsed Yaybe.
